The Canadian Beagle Fox Trial Association held its final trial for 2006 on Saturday and Sunday,
October 14 & 15. Saturday's running was held at Delmer Seale's running pen and Sunday's was
at David York's. Being a 2-day trial, scores were accumulated from Saturday and Sunday to
determine the final winners for the weekend. Saturday brought us rain and cool temperatures for
the morning cast at 7:00 am, but the rain stopped about 9:30, and the rest of the trial was cool
but pleasant. Despite the rain-soaked ground, the hounds had heads-up running the entire 4
hours, and brought in decent scores. (See next page for pics of Saturday's winners.)
Lunch on Saturday was hot, delicious chili provided by Kay and Harold Hannah. The winning
dog, Happyrun "Catch-Me-If-You-Can" Zeet enjoyed an extra hour and a half running.
Professional handler, Indiana Cross from The American Beagler came to Canada to handleher
favorite dog, but couldn't get the job done at call-off time. (In other words, Zeet wouldn't come
in again.) Saturday evening the beaglers were treated to home-cooked meals with all the timmin's
by Mrs. Mays and Mrs. Burke in the traditional great hospitality of Roy Mays' hunt camp.
Entertainment was compliments of Solly Solomon and his never-ending wit. Solly also whipped
up some scrumptious cajun breaded Northern Pike fillets.
